I just heard about a new Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy movie that should come out next year. The only casting I saw was Mos Def as Ford (....) I only hope that this one is better than the BBC version, although I haven't been able to track down the other version.

has he given up MCing totally? i love that book

I don't know... The book is pretty good and has a lot of stuff in it that doesn't translate well to any kind of screen. I'd still go and see it just for the heck of it though

On an unrelated note, I didn't konw James Earl Jones was in Dr. Strangelove.

But what about the director? And the screenwriter? I'm hoping for Terry Gilliam or someone of his caliber. I think that Danny Boyle could do a good with the material as well. He's pretty surreal.Just don't give me Chris Colombus or Spielberg or anything like that.

BTW: You didn't know that, Baku? James Earl was one of the very first things I noticed when I watched that film for the first time. Mwahahah! I rule!

Here is more info about this movie: IMDB

To be honest I never read that book, but may'be I will read it sometime.

Yup, here's also the full cast (and a picture of prototype-Marvin):

Isn't Gilliam busy with the film adaptation of Good Omens at the moment? And what's happened to THAT project, anyway?

ADDENDUM: I always pictured Marvin as tall and scrawny -- not like C-3P0, more like the autopilot robots that appear in various Looney Tunes shorts (and inevitably take the last parachute). Or some other stick figure variant. Oh well.

Let's hope that one will be good, and not a disaster like his (unfinished) movie about Don Quixote.
I still hope he will finish it, but I think that won't happen.

Yeah, I kind of thought of him being like that too. Oh well, he will always be that way when I read the books

Also, here's a interview with the producer and director of the movie, which I found on the IMDB forum:

Last I heard about Terry was that he had gone off the Good Omens picture (and left it to someone else) to work on his Brothers Grimm flick. Well, that's second-to-last, as the LAST thing I heard was that he's got a second (or third or something) chance to do Don Quixote, which is good.

Anyway, on to HHGTTG:

OOOH! Sam Rockwell! And Ooh-ooh! Warwick Davis! And eeek! John Malkovich! This can only be fantastic! Sam Rockwell is one of those actors almost noone knows who is but whom most people have seen at some point. His roles in the Green Mile and Confessions of a Dangerous Mind being two of my personal favourites.

Personally, I like Marvin. He looks sleek and kinda cute, yet sorta... y'know... Marvin. I was half expecting to see something like the Marvin in the TV show, but I'm pretty glad that wasn't the case.
i hate it here!

Yeah Marvin looks great.

By the way, go to this link to look at Marvin instead. You get to see him without Warwick's head popping out of him:

Nope, didn't notice it, but I know now

Anyway, the new Marvin looks nifty, but the mental picture I had of him didn't exactly look like something that the Japanese would invent. I would expect him to be taller than that, though the droopy white does look good.
