For Wanderer: That n2/1*P05 isn't actually incorrect, it's just a little unclear. It means you're targetting the second moon orbiting planet # 1. P05 means it's the fifth body in the system (at least, the way your stardrifter counts - It counts all planets first, and then the moons around each planet in order, so the second moon orbiting planet 1 in a two star system would be P05. The first moon around planet 1 is P04).

Suggestions for better ways of showing that information are welcome, but bear in mind that since that's being shown as part of the title on the 'w' local target data box, and there's only so much space there. So it's not really possible to change it to "Moon 2 orbiting planet 5," though M2/P1 would be fine, for instance.

Now, in NV, with the booze 'n cruise option, we can slam into planets?
written by Wanderer on Jun 30, 2005 17:39
Well now...isn't this odd:

EDIT: hmmm...wonder why the picture link won't work?

You missed out the 's' in your link. It should be cd/gifs/Wanderer/strange.

That produces:

ah.. Thankee kindly, SC. BTW, notice anything...odd, in the above pic?

Heh.. Surface height of 0?

That means you've hit the "seas" of Thin Atmosphere planets... Those seas are just.. well.. low ground, very flat stuff... It's normal, yup.

Negative walking speed? Walking backwards?
written by Wanderer on Jun 30, 2005 17:48
No, look at the walking speed.
written by Wanderer on Jun 30, 2005 17:50
not backwards. I was spinning. That is, I was looking 'round and 'round very fast.

Edit: hmm.. spinning?

Well.. uuh.. errr.. right.. *goes trying that*

edit: Not a bug at all..
If you move backwards, the numbers go negative.
If you spean REALLY fast without moving the mouse backwards or forwards (read: with Mouselook), it stays at 0..

You probably moved the mouse to the back a bit..

Also, apparently, felysian jetpack abuse has a side effect: leathally high blood pressure.

EDIT: my mouse look wasn't on, and even if negative numbers do result from moveing backwards, should the number really be as high as it is in consequence of accidentally moving the mouse backwards ONLY A BIT?

True...But can you confirm that your' re using NICE 9? We're assuming that for now...

Snowy, it does happen, he's right.

P.S. I just tried an experiment. I hit '.' (to go as fast as possible), held down the spacebar, and spun in a circle rapidly. I got my pulse up above 500 pps before NICE crashed (which happened when I pressed 'm' to take a snapshot, hmm - but this is in R-not-quite-yet-10).

I just tried NICE. Cool schtuff!

The thing to talk on IRC while at it is also very, very cool. Congrats for doing this cool schtuff
