Tracco just reported that PAR wasn't working properly. I've found and fixed the problem, and discovered that parold, pri, prif, and stold weren't being compiled either, and fixed those. R9c will include those, but in the meantime you can get them from either http://sl.ecwhost.com/temp/updated-modules.7z or http://sl.ecwhost.com/temp/updated-modules.zip (Extract them into your noctis modules folder)

Those are for R9 and newer only, not for regular Noctis IV or for older versions of NICE.

The .7z is much smaller than the .zip, but they contain the same files. If you don't have 7zip or WinRAR or another decompressor which can read that format, then you'll probably want to either get one, or download the .zip one instead.

Also: I'm re-testing importgd on stars, and it doesn't appear to be working. So we'll see what the problem is with that and then get it fixed. I don't remember if I tested it on planets. I thought I did, but possibly I didn't but thought I had.

I've fixed importgd so that it works now. You can get it from http://sl.ecwhost.com/temp/importgd.7z or http://sl.ecwhost.com/temp/importgd.zip

P.S. ImportGD is a GOES module that you can use to import notes from the old (pre-R9, and original Noctis IV) guide.

Would it be possible to be able to set up the mouselook to work when you're in the ship as it can do when you are on a planet. You known, looking one way and moving and strafing the other?

Trad.a: If you're running it with Normal Go, try Alternate Go. If that doesn't work, you're probably out of luck. What OS are you using (XP, 95, 95, ME, 2k, etc)? If it's 95 or 98, you might be able to free up enough conventional memory by fiddling with autoexec.bat and config.sys.

Baz: It'd have to be coded in - The input code for planets and in space are separate, which is why it only works on planets right now.

Basically, no, you can't use mouseloook in the drifter right now, but we can code it to allow that later.

I say it's XP. I'm thinking: will NICE work on Windows Vista?

I don't know enough about Vista to guess.

Me neither, but that's the fun of guessing. If I could suggest something to Microsoft, I'd say to change the colour of the Blue Screen Of Death into something more positive like yellow, or green.

By the way, did you look in troubleshooting.txt? Are the Go programs giving you any error messages (like saying the path is too long)?

Sorry, the path is too long, so we can't set up the optimized PIF files!

No wonder it won't run.

Troubleshooting.txt tells you what to do to solve that.

Quick summary: It can't set up the optimized PIF files because of a path-length limitation in the PIF file format. It needs to use the optimized PIF files to make more conventional memory available to Noctis.
