Perhaps the U.S. is attempting to cause a stop in some reigons oil production, which would allow the big oil biz to jack prices up and make even more insane profits.

In any event, America is in no way a true democracy. It is a republican oligarchy in which an elite few rule, and in which those elites are supposedly representative of huge numbers of people. There are no true democracies in the world, just the illusions of them spewed out as bureaucratic propaganda vomit.

And most of this country happily eats it right up.

What? BLASPHEMY!

Actually, Ysereh has a point.

Personally, I believe that if it makes the majority of people happy, it's working. No matter what form of government you use, no matter how perfect and fair the system, it'll still be run by people. And people are imperfect. It doesn't matter what you say, somebody will find a flaw, and somebody else will be offended by it. The more people that don't realize exactly how often and how effectively they're being lied to, the better the system. Unfortunately, the moment somebody realizes he's being lied to, and tries to change it, he creates further complications. The longer a system is used, the more complicated it becomes. Eventually, the American government may eat itself up. It can only take so many layers of bureaucracy. It doesn't matter if you're being lied to if you don't know it, because it's not your problem. When these lies start to hurt you indirectly, you may notice it, and then it may be your problem. Perhaps you even manage to change things to be more fair to you. Unfortunately, by making such a change, you might make things harder for somebody else. There's no such thing as fair. The few people that try to "Spread the truth", are actually spreading their own versions of the truth. There's really no such thing as the truth, either, only a person's perception of it. Those who are told one story, and decide not to do anything, to remain content with their own beliefs, are better off in the long run. The few that catch a glimpse of exactly how things work will either decide to try and work with them, change them, use them for themselves, sit around and sulk about how unfair things are, understand and learn from them, or do nothing. It's completely up to them.

Basically, we're all doomed.

I've probably offended somebody with this post. Oh well, I just felt like writing something.

To the question at hand, I'd like to see how people reply to a page given by one of the people who replied to that video.

I myself, don't pay taxes in the US quite legally; by filing ten exemptions on my w-4, and not filing my taxes. The only thing taken out of my pay check is Social Security, so the tax thing's a moot-point for me.

So, is this thread about how the US of A are becoming a totalitarian state just because of taxation?
written by Stellanaut on Dec 22, 2006 17:59

Why is it a bogus tax?
written by Zixinus on Dec 22, 2006 20:10
Because they hope it to be, if not they will have to pay very, very, very much.
written by Ravus on Dec 23, 2006 04:44
It may not legally be a real tax. So yea, it's bogus. But it's probably the only tax that makes sense.

Property tax. That's bogus.

I personally wouldn't have as much of a problem with tax if there was a flat tax rather than tax brackets, but the income tax is an illegal tax, and in a way I consider it extortion rather than taxation.
