Anyone here play Hardwar?

I'm a Hardwar fanatic. I'm currently running it with the Beta 5 patch with HardwarE (although I'm not running every single E modification; for example, there is a section of E that makes extra hangars exponentially more expensive, designed to balance out multiplayer). This particular patch combination results in really funky camera views inside hangars, but other than that it's a huge improvement, with absolutely no major bugs and a working economy (unlike plain Beta 5). It also vastly improves employee AI and adds a whole bunch of new orders to give them. My personal favorite thing it does is allow AI pilots to sell to your hangars, so you don't have to do your own supply runs anymore if your prices are good enough. It also increases the police presence (i.e. there actually IS a police presence now) and randomizes AI pilot names and moth configurations, so you can no longer identify a pilot's profession just by looking at his moth. In addition, it vastly improves the interface. In other words, it makes a fantastic game even better.

Hmmm... a google search for hardware sadly isn't very productive in this case, mind giving us a link? Because it sounds very interesting.

Hardwar... Am I the only one who sees an army of people smacking their enemies in the face with erect penises and shooting fallos-missiles?

yes hardwar is THE best elite style game to date. (in some respects even better than elite) I've been playing this game for 7-8 years now if that gives you any idea how good it is.

The current "hub" for the community can be found here:

you can find just about everything you need to know about the game there. (even the complete cds) And feel free to ask questions about the game in the message board.

Despite the game being so old there are still quite a few people who still play it. Which can make online play fun. I personly like to play offline so I can play by my own rules, but the option is there.

If you've never played or heard of hardwar you better try it. everyone I've shown the game to has enjoyed it. The game just has this "vibe" to it. You can just see the developers had a good time makeing it. and SR put together this masterpiece so that every one can enjoy the game despite thier usual playstyle. Action, stratagy, rpg, tactical, team based stuff, economics, buisness management, it's all here in one game with a great storyline that has actual TV actors in the cutscenes... I love it, quite possibly the best game ever made.

and I've played quite a few games in my time...

Hardwar was nice for a while. It's a good game. Shame the HOTU rip didn't offer me the full experience, but I should have bought it.

They just released the ISO's on zedo's page y'know. As for myself, I bought the game off of Half.com. Best purchase I've ever made over the internet (besides Blockland).

HardwarE is short for Hardwar Enhanced, which is the Hardwar equivalent of NICE. There are two versions of it, one for U3 Beta 5 and one for UIM 06. For those of you who don't know, U3 Beta 5 is the final beta of the patch the developers were working on when they went out of business. Beta 5 adds a whole crapload of new features, but ruins the economy. Hardwar Enhanced for Beta 5 fixes the economy and adds even more features.

UIM 06 is an unofficial patch released by the game's devolpment team some time after their company went out of business. I don't really like it, personally, but it's the most stable non-fanmade version of the game. Its version of Enhanced adds many of the same features as Beta 5 Enhanced, and tries to add in some of the good parts of B5 as well.

For those of you who don't like all of the changes in Enhanced but want some of them, there is a utility which I believe you can download at Captain Zedo's (if not it's at Timski's Hardwar site) that allows you to custom configure Enhanced to suit your preferences.

Cool i might try this patch.

The full ISOs are worth it, for the warp records sound track.

Wow! I am missing a hardwar discussion!

I used to be a hardwar player, (unfortunaly, never multiplayer) and I even found my CD filled with hardwar downloads today while searching for the DVD codec CD

Do it chad, it is plainly great It rock!

The battles are fun also, specialy when you win using non-standard techniques and luck... (I mean, I started to fly around a rail with a cop trying to shoot me, eventually he crashed on a building and got stuck, and the building killed him, he got stuck on the door

Airlocks are really fun do kill something without getting the kill count...

Alright, I played for a little bit. And I have no idea what I'm doing. Or course it wasn't the online way, but anyways...
