I abhor this thread because you could all just sign up for last.fm and be done with it, but the proper syntax for listing a song is:

<Artist> - <Song Title>

Stop doing it the other way around. Jesus.

Hmm? Wmp11 is a great piece of software. Hating it simply because it's made by microsoft is rediculous. (Yea, I'm making the assumption that is why you hate it, because there is no other reason to). <.<

when you have 11 incarnations of your software and so many of the previous versions sucked, its easy to make assumptions. i mean, i have different versions of WMP on all my computers and they all bitch and want to update all the time.

WMP isn't bad...

It's horrible.

And no, I'm not one of those "BLASPHEMY MICROSOFT NOOO *DIES*" people, although I do indeed not like many of their software. Also, I find it a bit odd that you assume that that is the reason why I do not like it.

WMP11 is an average video player.
It's a horrible audio player.

If you want a proper video player, get VLC or Media Player Classic. VLC being the most uberawesomest video player ever.

If you want a proper audio player, get Foobar2000 or XMplay (although you probably need to mod/extend Foobar2000 a bit for it to become really awesome). Myself I recommend XMplay for streaming audio off of the internet and old music in awesome formats (XM, MOD, SID, etc), and Foobar for managing a crapthora of music (google image search for Foobar2000!).

Oh, fun thing: try streaming Kahvi through WMP: it'll try to download *all* the tracks before starting to play, rather than streaming a single track, or downloading a single track and then playing it (XMplay streams every single track nicely)...

So, what is the reason why *you* use WMP11? Because you "like" it? Come on...

WMP: *drags file over to WMP* "Hey, this file isn't opening in WMP.. Odd.. hmm.. odd. Got to find some other thing or a codec then.. hmm.."
VLC: *drags file over to VLC* "Yayh!"

(that's right: VLC plays pretty much everything. Plus it also does ISO files and DVD filestructures. And can play from inside archive files, too.)

I just have WMP 10 ... or is it 9 anyway and that works fine for me but I did install the mega codec pak so maybe that has something to do with it.. But i will take a looksie at this VLC you speak of.

*StarChaser reads through his list of over 1000 codecs* (okay its probably not 1000 but its still over 100 )

I don't know how good foobar is now, but when I tried it in the past (2 times, a couple of year ago) it wasn't all that good. I was crashing too many times to be functional.

xmplay is ok.
I use a lot 1by1: it's tiny and accepts new fileformats dll. : )

I've never had a problem playing files in wmp11 <.< The only codec i've ever had to install was for xvid. I have no idea what you're going on about. It looks nice, is built specifically for windows (which is what I use), and takes care of all of my media needs. <.<
