I wonder how many of the programmers or developers actually want a manager. I don't think many of them would like it.

Community, however, I can see really would like a community manager since they'd probably think that that would increase the development speed.

I would like a manager purely, because the less managerial decisions I have to make while writing this, the faster I can write code. I can easily write 25,000+ lines of working code in a week if I just have to make design decisions while I'm writing the code.

So yes, as a developer, I would like management. Management that does listen to me as a designer/programmer and makes appropriate decisions based on the input I've given. Whether or not it's what I've suggested, because I expect the management to know all the different aspects of each of the issues (the views of the community and all the views of the programmers).
