Hi,

This is probably already known to the regulars of the forum, but I'm just a n00b, so I'm going to go ahead and ask anyway:

What happened to all the Notes that are available in the NIV GOES Guide, but are apparently no longer available in the NICE? And is there anyway I can get import those notes into NICE?

Normally, to read the GUIDE, you would use
cat suricrasia
suricrasia being a planet's name.

However, in NICE, this reads from the NICE guide, rather than from the NIV guide. To read the NIV guide under NICE, use the 'catold' command instead of the 'cat' command, like so:

catold suricrasia

How worthwhile is it to read the NIV guide if you're running NICE? Just wondering, because I think I read somewhere that the terrain generation and suchlike was quite different between the two, so will notes in the NIV guide still be applicable?

Also, is Sync StarMap still not working? if so, any idea when it will be?

I love NICE so much!

The manual doesn't really go into that much detail, it just tells you how to play. There's a copy of the manual that comes with NICE that is updated for NICE anyway.

And you might as well forget about sync starmap, if you want to share something just post about it here, it's funner than reading from the goes

Mostly because GOES isn't active anymore. I wish I had been here when it was. I feel it would have been a worthwhile experience.

Alex is usually busy. He has to compile the Inbox manually. Plus, I think people stopped regularly sending outboxes to him, so there's nothing to actually compile into the next inbox. Thus, no more updates.

So there may be a new inbox at some point, though I wouldn't expect regular updates. While there haven't been many outboxes submitted recently, there have been quite a few since the last update.

Yes I remember (I think it was a year ago) first downloading noctis then exploring tons of stars, naming them and writing important details on them. I read the 'manual' and then I sent an inbox (or was it outbox ) to Alex. If I remember right the email didn't even exist anymore.

I hope that with the coming of NV it causes a real nice spark and we all begin to pile in the inboxes (or outboxes) and have a fun time.

My only worry is that we run out of places to name but with the billion or so stars that is a silly worry.

It's more probable that we'll run out of NAMES. But we can always use the names of different kinds of cheese!

Haha the cheese part...how did you know!? For the last several planets I've named I've used names of cheese and other foods with interesting names.
