It looks like you're using the modified version of Noctis called NICE. The DOS versions of that require access to more conventional memory than standard Noctis, so they won't run on as many systems. If you were running Windows Vista, then none of the DOS versions of Noctis would work, due to Vista's weak DOS support. There probably isn't a lot you can do about the conventional memory, so you're best option is probably just to use the Windows port.

Since you also mention the mouse cursor in the middle of the screen, you must be using the older version of DWNoctis included in NICE 11x. The Windows port has actually seen a lot of improvements since the last official release, and you can find the latest beta version of that in the NICE discussion thread, specifically here. This version should remove the mouse cursor, make the window larger, and add new features and functionality. You can also make it run fullscreen by making a shortcut to DWNoctis and adding --fullscreen to the end of its target path. The only real downside is that NICE is less stable than the original Noctis, so you should be prepared for it to occasionally crash.

Well, if it has Linux then it probably won't be able to run Noctis. The Eee PCs are capable of running Windows XP though, and some will be coming with that preinstalled. If you're looking to buy one soon, you might wait a little, as they are about to release some newer models in the coming weeks. The newer ones will cost a bit more, but they'll come with a larger screen, more memory, and other refinements. Other companies will also be launching comparable subnotebooks in the coming months.

Well, actually, I've been running Kubuntu for about 7 months now and haven't had any problems. Just make sure you've got Wine installed if you're going to use DWNoctis, and dosemu (or dosbox) if you're going to use the DOS versions.

I'm not so sure an emulator would run Noctis very well on a sub-GHz notebook though. Dosbox can't even run it well on a decent desktop system. Your best bet would probably be running it natively on such a system.

Dosemu is not really an emulator; and is MUCH faster than Dosbox.

Did I mention dosemu was MUCH faster than Dosbox?

I think I did mention that dosemu is MUCH faster than Dosbox.

I have to agree with that, I don't really use Dosbox very much. Mostly just dosemu or wine for playing noctis. I just mentioned it because I thought I remembered someone saying that it worked somewhere on the forums before. I could be wrong.
