Hey man don't worry about it. I was younger than you when I joined and one my first actions got me ignored by 5 major members. WOOT! who can beat that huh?

It's always hard to get into an already established community on the internet.
Hell, ABB is the only place I can go without having enemies .
Tribalwars and GameFAQs KG are two places I can never show my face again .

Also it took me a few years before I could get into programming as well.
Only this year I finally got a Programming teacher and knuckled down.
It's not that hard once you have a good teacher mate, don't give up.

There are always going to be people who will disagree with you on the way you do things. Its a fact of life that everyone is different and barely anyone will want to do everything the same.

If we* seem harsh it's because we just tell things straight up. Your browser is still good. better than anything I had produced at your at your age.

And with that I say a wall well built. So small it is.

*I can't speak for everyone but I know of a fair few major members that have this attitude, me included. Its not a bad attitude, it's just some people can find it offending when they build something and then you say "Hey look at that bug in that program!" or "Why does your drawing of a pony look like a walking frog?"

By your terms, Onforty, I am not a noctis player at all. It has been so long since I have played it.

And if you think that I am some great programmer, trust me: I'm not. I don't know much about programming except for the little bit that I have learned. I have to ask a billion questions about things all the time, so I am no smarter than you. And you have a GREAT advantage over me since you are 12 years old. You have the ability to learn things much easier. I am 23 years old and find it harder to learn new things.

Above everything, this community is here to help you if you need it. If you have a question, you just have to ask. The way I learn more and more about Lino is just to question whether a certain something can be done, then I ask myself how it can be done and I try to find a way based on the knowledge of Lino that I have.

But if you want to learn Linoleum, don't give up. We're here to help you.

Is she in a wheelchair? : P

Seriously though, the best way to start programming games is to start small, preferably with something that won't require months to develop. A simple single-screen arcade game or Tetris-clone might be a good choice. Actually, if you're using a language you don't know very well, you should first make some simple text based programs or graphical demos to learn all the basic instructions and concepts. There are good tutorials for most popular languages that you can follow along with. Just don't expect to have the language mastered in a matter of days. : )

Yeah... look at me. I'm still asking questions. I've been doing this for years.

Hell, I've been 'starting' programming for eight or nine years now. We all have grand ideas but putting in the horsepower is the real stuff. Just don't beat yourself up, kid.

Sorry, I didn't mean to upset anyone.

Yeah, I had a few grand ideas that proved only to myself that I was in way over my head. I just have to work my way up to the bigger projects, that's all. I'm no where near anything major, though.

And I can really only speak for myself, but with that in mind, I'm not upset.

hey onforty, remember that your are in fact quite young comparing with the average of the members here, so it's quite normal that some people here has a certain level of coding skill, while your level is still low.
it does require time to be achieved. You simply cannot learn it in some days. : /
and in fact it's often a complex thing. : P

by the way if your native language is danish, I have to say that you're quite good with english. I didn't know a heck of nothing about english when I was 12. : P
