I just installed noctis on my vista and every time that I boot it up an error message pops up saying "this system does not support full screen"
and I have to close the game.
My system specs are

CPU: (2 Ghz)
Intel Pentium dual-core processor T3200

RAM: 2 GB

Hard Drive Space: 160 GB

OS: Windows Vista Premium

Can anyone help me to get noctis running on my vista. Thanks!

Vista doesn't run dos programs in Full screen. I have the same problem

so, is there any way to get noctis running in windowed mode or to get vista to run full screen?

I'm not sure about all the options, but one is to run the Windows port of Noctis IV CE. You can find the latest release of NICE 11.6a here. DWNoctis is the Windows port.

One thing to note is that the planets have different surface terrain in NICE, so it uses a new guide. Entries written for NICE won't appear in the standard Noctis IV guide, and will only be included in inbox updates for NICE. That's not so much of a problem is you don't use the guide much though.

Unfortunately, it doesn't work well on my Vista laptop. The windowed version works a few seconds before it crashes spontaneously, full screen crashes on startup with an error message that says I don't have DirectX 7.

do you have DirectX 7?

if not, you might want to get it...

yeah, but I really want to play standard noctis because I want to use the guide.

If you have another computer without Vista, you could play it on that, otherwise, I dunno if Dosbox would help or not in this situation. The whole thing is a problem with Vista and not Noctis, so there isn't a whole lot we can do to help other than telling you to play either NICE, or Noctis on a different machine that doesn't have Vista.

Edit: Also, be glad it runs, some people can't even get it to work at all on Vista.

NO
Seriously, people should realize that DosBox is INSANELY slow. But for some reason, people never seem to be able to..
(Slightly annoyed by all those people asking of they could run Windows 95 on the GP2x/Pandora through Dosbox and such... )

I've never had a problem with Dosbox being slow.

I suppose that depends on what your running, and how fast your computer is. If you're only running DOS programs designed for a 486, then they will probably run fine. Noctis is too computationally intensive for such systems though, so its emulated performance is bound to be lower.
