Having a in-game information retrieval program is really great. But, most of us can easily minimize the game without any repercussions, yes? So, what i suggest is that we set up a wiki style program or website that any member can go in and add information about their discoveries. Star systems and planets have their own pages/articles created when they are named, and other information (such as neuzd and skinnymon's exhibitions) can be added in.

One can just exit or minimize the game, log into the wiki, add information, pictures, and thoughts, which will immediately become available for viewing.

All we have to do is find a way to include existing information from the guide into the wiki. Since neuzd has the extended network operational, maybe we can find some way to incorporate it.

This is all just a suggestion. I would do it myself, but I lack any programing skills or knowledge of how any of this works.

If I remember correctly something like this is already planned for the next noctis version.
The point is that It'll take ages to be available.. : P

True, true Yayo. But, its not that hard for a small community to maintain a wiki or something like it. The only problem is incorporating existing data and commentary into their own pages (which, at this point, is going to require alot).

Just a little tidbit, it is possible to incorporate a web browser into a game it'll be quirky of course. However, not a DOS game, and probably not a Linoleum implementation.

Hmmm....whenever I think of a wiki, I would straightaway reply myself with 'isn't that what the GOES Console is for?'. But then again, a supporting wiki is a good idea, with formatting, pictures and such.

I think there was some attempt at a Noctis wiki at http://noctisiv.free.fr/Noctipedia/wikka.php?wakka=HomePage . Last edits were made in 2004, apparently, with edits since then being spam and such.

That is a lot of spam. The changes could be reverted, but it looks like the spam bots are continuing to make edits, so it would be useless unless the Wiki engine was updated to one with a captcha. Pomelos would have to do that though, since it appears to be hosted at his site.

I didn't know that website existed. That's sort of like what I had in mind, but the spam bots are pretty rampant.

not better to do freewebs with data uploaded weekly or monthly?
