Noctis V FAQ - Forum Edition

After I had to split the FAQ due to the post limits of postline, I've figured it was better to make an own thread where you can ask question to be answered in the FAQ, sure, it's an overkill with all these sticky-threads, but that's just the way it's going to be in order to keep the FAQ clean.

So, if you got a question conerning features in NV, please ask it here.

Edit on 14-12-03:

Changed the thread's name to "Noctis V FAQ Feedback thread"; you can now post general feedback about the FAQ as well as more questions - so, if you have spotted a few typos or errors here and there, you can post about it here, so it can be fixed (alternatively, you can still send me an PM, and mods and admins are still encouraged to edit it as they like).

Ok, I feel a bit silly here, but on the other hand...

Q: Ok, I've seen this thing about 'don't ask about the ETA for Noctis V or any sort of details' a number of times. Is there a penalty for asking, other than the vague threat of a later release date?

Feel free to get creative with your answers

Cool! Yes, a large camel-moose crossbreed thing will hunt you down and steal all the bacon in the vicinity, therefore making a large amount of mushrooms gather together and sit on nearby park benches, therefore making the mushroom:bench ratio go completely off the scale, and as a result making runner bean prices rocket, meaning that any greenhouses nearby will increase in value due to the extreme demand, and extremely large amounts of CO2 will be released into the atmosphere, meaning that trees will flourish, grow legs and walk around, take over all nearby cities and occupy the houses, and as a result of this the homeless will riot and a large tree burning... thing, will ensue, in which even more CO2 will be released, and the trees which didn't grow legs will, and will step on all the homeless people before re-inhabiting the cities. They will then take over all the media coverage and send tree propaganda over the airwaves, and any remaining non-trees will join a tree cult and cover themselves in wood, but as a result of this there will be a wood shortage and all the wood will run out, meaning that the trees will have to sacrifice some of their population, but, being trees, they will grossly overcalculate and hence a large tree genocide will ensue, and all trees will be wiped out. The tree cultists will therefore set themselves alight in remorse, and due to the lack of trees and the flames, the world will run out of oxygen and everything will die.

^_^

That was _fun_!

I belive this has already been answered in the FAQ; at least sort of.

...Or maybe not.

Shush, Kalli asked, not you, so her judgement is final... (which is probably a bad thing, but there you goes... )

EDIT: Oooooh, I got a ROFL thing.... ^_^

Ok, people, here's a question to those of you who posted in the FAQ thread: is it ok that I remove your posts to clean the thread up a bit?

If I do this, you'll loose those posts from your post-count, and they won't be retreviable (at least not by me), so, I figured I should ask first.
written by Overtilt on Dec 04, 2003 13:50
You will, of course, add their posts to the FAQ, right?

Yup! That's something I have already done a long time ago, OT.

- Tell us more about the wild life thing. Will creatures also be auto-generated? Will some things depend on the environment?
- Will there still be blocky-mountains? And natural-pyramids? Or are they gone for ever?

And the century-old question
- Now, don't want to piss you off, I do not want an actuall release daten or a month, but ... I've been waiting a long time, don't mind that, but I've almost grown an entire meter since then and I think I've already begun shrinking... curiosity gets the best of me.. so, in what season (Fall, winter, spring, summer) will or should it be finished, not out, finished

Wildlife is going to be randomly generated

More than hoppers though?

Yes, more than hoppers, though probably not at first
written by Overtilt on Dec 04, 2003 16:56
There are already more than hoppers. I still think that "hoppers" is grossly general and inaccurate a name for them.
written by William dojinn on Dec 04, 2003 17:14
True, wonder what Alex will have our overly large 'hopper' friends look like with details n stuff.

There isn't much more to tell then that in the FAQ: THM will stretch and mangle and rotate pieces and assemble them into semi-random lifeforms, it may also be effected by the planet environment - as for example gravity and temperature, but I don't want to launch into speculation on any issue - it's possible not even Alex knows for sure yet, as THM is a feature-under-construction.

That's all I dare say for sure in the FAQ at this time, I can add that there'll probably be more then hoppers though.

And the century-old question

...which already is answered in the FAQ: "when it's ready".
