As might already be apparent from the chat logs, I have stumbled upon a peculiar planet - inside an S08 system, the sixth planet was Felisian. The distance from its main star is over 600 dyams. I'm pretty sure this is a rare occurence. Now, I've made a photographic album which details my explorations so far. Here it is, hope it works:

Here's a sneak peek or howdoyoucallit:

Heh, I like the olive-colored sector in the shot above the most, looks very lush. What was the temperature of the planet, anyway? Must have been pretty cold if it was that far away... o_o

Actually, the temperature was around +10 Celsius almost everywhere. Quite high, considering the distance! I have no idea what might have made this planet such a paradise.

Just updated the album with some photos with the visor up. I've found another great place while taking them, so check them out.

Pretty weird, maybe we can chalk up the temperature to greenhouse gasses?

I liked the island with the purple sky, and the lake at the end of the album.

The hopper, however, needs to lay off the sweetgrass. : P

Yay! Another Picasa user!
Meanwhile, those are fantastic skies and colours. Guess you'd expect that for an S08 Felisian so distant. Though the far-off Felisians I've found(none so distant though) are typically unattractively murky.

The best places for distant Felisian planets are S01 systems, by far. I'll try to find one today, if time allows. This one was unexpected, before landing my predictions were for a dark and murky world, as you say.

A long time that I don't see a REALLY exciting discovery...

Really nice!

I think I found the new planet, but it was hard, as well as to find its star. The parsis showed in your pictures put me in the void, near the pointed star. I wrote in the guide the name you gave to it and I'm waiting for the planet's name.
I spent some months, years ago, playing Noctis by myself, and now, as I want to share the few discoveries I've made after its new installation, I can't find an efficient way to do it quickly. Do you use NM? What about new inboxes?
I uploaded some pics of the surface.

To provide a quick answer to your questions,
* Inboxes are back again, thanks to neuzd, but aren't updated too often due to lower drifter activity.
*Some members here do use NM, but I don't quite understand what you mean by quickly sharing your discoveries**. I don't think the inbuilt chat works anymore.
Anyway, since you brought up NoctisMapper, forgive me if you've already found this, but there has been a little feature by neuzd to see the last known positions of other NM users, by editing the config setting to have neuzd.org/noctis/mapper.php as the server url.

**you could create a thread or album, of course

Ok. Thanks. Url works fine.

I thought I could have added a couple of hints.

- It was kind of you to label the system with the same name the original discoverer (Serpens) gave it, though it isn't a needed practice.
Generally, experienced stardrifters that are curious to visit a recent discovery by someone else, don't assign labels to the system in question, and patiently wait for the starmap update.
Of course there are no rules about this, but some may consider this something like etiquette, so they prefer to avoid any possibilities of "stealing" another person's discovery.
Like 4.6M was saying, activity is very scarce, and so the Inbox updates don't come very frequently.
Anyway, if "my" elite exploration squad have lots of labels, they should tell me anytime. By now it's almost like the inboxes contain labels from the same 4 drifters....

- The parsis coordinates displayed in the bottom line of the screenshots are those of the stardrifter. You can use those to get "about" the system and then drift there "by hand", like you've already done, but if you want to know the exact coordinates of the star, you should use the PAR module. (in particular, if it's me asking for parsis, 99.9% of the times I mean the star's).

- To share your own discoveries you could create a photo album.
Have a look at the link Serpens posted in the first post. This way you avoid also posting too many files in the cdisk, which wouldn't be a big problem, but it looks to me more appropriate to use the correct instruments...an example will fit better: I have probably 2500 noctis photos on my website, I don't think Alex and other users would have been so happy if I filled the cdisk with tons of megabytes of mine.

Yeah, Neuzd,

You're completely right. I'll try to follow the directions you gave us.

About my 'kindness', what I have to say is that I'm not sure the star I labeled is the same Serpens found. As I said before, they don't share the same parsis. I tried the PAR module, but the star wasn't there. I should add, also, that I'm not as interested in having the credits of any discoveries as I'm really in watching the ways the universe in Noctis behaves.

What about trying a way to update results using NM? The chat service could be reactivated and start using some kind of outbox exchange. NM shows there's a handful of drifters updating their positions every day.

Finally, I sarted trying to use c-disk in the same way I use my own HD: always deleting unused files. This means that once the pics are viewed and I want to upload new ones, the older are erased.

I almost forgot to say that this S08 promises: P16 supports life too!

If you reached the nearest star from the parsis displayed in Serpens' photo, you most probably targeted the same star (I checked the parsis).
Anyway, you're correct in having some doubts, because with very large systems things gerts complicated. Just don't always trust that you'll end up near the right star when taking parsis from a screenshot of a planet.

To use the PAR module, the star must be labeled, if you want to use it in situations of unlabeled stars (which you don't care to albel) you can just assign a temporary name, do your modules work, and then simply delete it.

NoctisMapper is a totally unrelated program to Noctis.
There could be other ways to automatize the process probably, but I'll be simply keeping it the way it is.

And personally I won't delete stuff from the cdisk, what if somone in some months finds a thread of yours with lots of "wow, great pics" posts but all photos are gone? : (

Don't worry, Neuzd, I don't erase everything in my PC. I'm again in love with Noctis, so I keep all its material safe.

Is it possible that universes in NIV, NIV+ and NICE slightly differ? Although the appearance of the system in each of the programs is more or less the same, the planets differ widely. In NIV+ the mentioned planet seems be exclusively composed by islands surrounded by invisible walls. One cannot progress on its surface.

So,regarding the version one uses, the shared data won't match, except, perhaps, in stellar environment.

Concerning NM, what do you mean in saying it "is a totally unrelated program to Noctis"?

The difference in terrain generation (and other stuff) affects only NICE.
NIV+ and NIV are absolutely identical.
There were some dev versions in which I forgot to restore some experimentations, but I really really doubt you are in possession of one of those.

Anyway, both in NIV and NIV+ when you land you are confined to visiting a single sector. In-character interpretations of this limit involve a kind of security leash, a safe distance.

What I meant about NoctisMapper is just that it won't be useful for exchanging outboxes.

Also, for discussing this kind of topics, instead of outoftopic'ing Serpens thread you could open the chat frame adn ask these kinds of questions there, if you find someone online.
