"Okay, definitely no time for that now."

I watch, starting to position myself closest to the nearest spot from which I can fire out of the vehiclebot.

L4-O's vehiclebot, Point One, [REDACTED], right now

L4-O decides that there is no time to go and help the bot, and just moves closer to a window. They've not actually fixed them so he can just fire through where the glasslyke used to be. (You know, they could probably have made use of the equipment in that factory to make spare parts for their bots -- and that might well have included windows. Oh well.) From here he can see the creature that approached. It crosses his line of sight as it circles.

(OOC: rolling: 5)

But as he watches, it stops, and suddenly turns and lunges right at the window!

I try to fire at it before it gets to us!

If I have a clear line of fire I attempt to quickly get ready and shoot it too, oh wait, only if my window is open or something.

Wait, why my window would be open? That would be bad idea...

Well, if I can without damaging the other bot or disrupting the line of fire of L4, I try to run over any hostiles instead!!!

L4-O's vehiclebot, Point One, [REDACTED], right now

Acting fast, L4-O takes aim and fires!

(OOC: rolling: 2)

BLAM! Direct hit! The slug hits the creature right in the eye, passing though the head and out the other side!

Of course, it's still travelling towards the window, but it doesn't seem to be able to actually do anything about it any longer, as it just sort of flops against the edge, its hand (claw? paw?) briefly passing through the opening before the body just sort of slides off.

Speed-G's vehiclebot, Point One, [REDACTED], right now

Speed-G is about to fire when he realises that his windows are intact, and he wouldn't want to fire through them.

Oh well, he can still contribute, right?

Right. Only instead of doing anything rash like opening a door or a window, he just heads to the operator's cabin.

(OOC: rolling: 2)

Speed-G is no L4-O, but he can still get the bot moving in a pinch. And he's able to work the controls well enough to ram it straight into a number of the creatures!

Of course, it helps that they're not longer circling after the death of the first one. But that's not the point. The point is that Speed-G is able to take out a fair few of them. Now, can he bring the bot to a stop?

I am no L4 indeed, I just tell the bot to resume following the other bot!

Unless it clearly has no idea what to do, then I intervene...

Speed-G's vehiclebot, Point One, [REDACTED], right now

Hmmm. It seems that Speed-G's talents don't quite stretch that far just yet. Or perhaps they do, but his first instinct is to try and just tell the bot to return to remote control.

(OOC: rolling: 14)

Sadly, either it doesn't understand him or it's not listening, as it simply continues forward, with the creatures scattering to either side. Some of them, incidentally, find themselves right in the sights of some of the team, who waste no time in shooting. But Speed-G is too busy trying to manually bring the bot to a stop to notice... (OOC: rolling: 5) aha, it's that control! There we go!

Now I try to manuever so I am not sitting duck where enemies can just climb on the bot.

L4-O's vehiclebot, Point One, [REDACTED], right now

L4-O keeps firing!

(OOC: rolling: 7)

With the creatures now agitated and moving rapidly, a few of his shots go wide, but he manages to scure a couple of nice hits on one of the creatures. It yelps in pain and falls, though it continues to try and reach the window by pulling itself forward with its arms.

Another creature tries its own leap! (OOC: rolling: 12) Lucas-O tries to shoot, but misses, allowing it to grab onto a window and try and pull itself inside! Lucas-O tries again. (OOC: rolling: 11) But in his panic, he goes wide, allowing the creature to finish pulling itself inside...

(OOC: rolling: 2)

...only to be shot repeatedly by Paula-O.

As it falls, it reveals that another one hass made a leap and is also pulling itself inside...

Speed-G's vehiclebot, Point One, [REDACTED], right now

Meanwhile Speed-G is trying to get moving again. This time he's trying to get away from the creatures as he doesn't want any unwanted guests crawling over and through the thing. (OOC: rolling: 3) He ends up slamming it into reverse.

L4-O's vehiclebot, Point One, [REDACTED], right now

L4-O keeps firing!

Again.

(OOC: rolling: 14)

However, he somehow manages to miss with every shot despite it being only a few metres away, allowing it to pull itself over the body of its former companion and grab hold of Lucas-O. Needless to say, the ORANGE starts trying to get it off him... (OOC: rolling: 8) ...and manages to throw it to the floor. Good thing it didn;t have a chance to do anything to him... right?

Meanwhile the bot is trying its best to get away from the things... or at least to get to a place where it's not surrounded, while simultaneously trying to not slam into Speed-G's bot. (OOC: rolling: 4) It ends up running over a few of them, but does manage to get clear.

"Wow! A complete lack of pens!"

I take the surveys, and count how many of them have been completed, how many have been partially completed, and how many have not been started at all. I then use my PDC to note down a list of names that have been filled in on the completed surveys, and another list of names potentially filled in on the partially completed surveys. I file any completed surveys in with my completed surveys, any non-started surveys in with my non-started surveys (provided they don't appear to have been tampered with), and any partially completed surveys in their own location.

"I really need to track down all these easily-distracted clones!"

I then set to noting whether anything interesting is displayed on the vidscreens, such as but not limited to names matching those in my lists and the locations of their current assignments.

I also note whether any pens or other useful items might be hiding under any furniture, or in potentially-unlocked furniture drawers of appropriate clearance, or in waste receptacles, or in or around any other objects that could potentially conceal other objects.

L4-O's vehiclebot, Point One, [REDACTED], right now

L4-O keeps firing! Wow, it's amazing how many slugs are in that magazine...

But I don't think L4-O cares too much about that ringt now. He's focused on trying to stop that creature from doing... whatever to them. If Speed-G is correct, that could include turning one of the team into another one of these... creatures!

As such, he keeps firing!

(OOC: rolling: 6)

Blam blam blam blam! He manages to knock it back with a hail of slugs, but this one just keeps on coming!

Maintenance office, Sublevel 5, Simulation Building 1, Happy Fun Vacation Zone, LOL Sector, 0h47m30s ago

Well, it seems that Cyrus-R is now alone in the maintenance office. And you know what that mweans! It's time to i n s p e c t ! And also p i l f e r s a m p l e t h e f r e e s a m p l e s.

In this case, he's inspecting the surveys. Most have names; some are even completed. That means that he can split them into three piles: one for the completed ones; one for the part-completed ones; and one for the ones that didn't even get started.

But of course, even those need a further split, for he must be careful not to contaminate his supply of blank surveys with the contamination of propaganda -- and there is one such survey. There's no name on that one, so it is hard to tell who might have tampered with it, but nonetheless, it is there.

But for the others, he decides to make a note of names, so he can track down those pens. It looks like a lot of them have simply returned to their jobs, if these vidscreens can be believed, though a few seem to have left the building.

So. Is that everything? No, becuase -- of course -- he feels the need to chech for <airquotes>free samples</airquotes> of other kinds of pen. (OOC: rolling: 3) There is exactly one pen -- and it appears to have blue ink!
