Speed-G's vehiclebot, travelling to Point One, [REDACTED], right now

[Speed-G-DOF-6] Alright, we can stop. Also my speaker here is busted...
I might try to fix it later, maybe.
As soon as Speed-G posts that, the bots decelerate. If he wanted, he could have a go at fixing the speaker while everyone else explores the ruins. If he wanted.

Of course, he might also decide to go explore. It'll take about a turncycle for the bots to come to a stop, so he'll have that long to decide what he wants to do. But I reckon that L4-O and the rest would welcome his presence if he chose to join them.

Once we've stopped, I disembark and start cautiously approaching the ruins, surveying the situation.

I check my weaponry and follow L4...

oh wait, I wait everyone to leave the bots and lock them too. Those anxious persons leaving doors open behind them...

Ruins, travelling to Point One, [REDACTED], right now

As soon as the bots come to a stop, L4-O disembarks and surveys the area. He can see the ruins of what at one time must have been eight buildings. Over time, three have collapsed completely, another three have lost a couple of levels to decay leaving only the lowest level intact, leaving the remaining two -- the largest two, in fact, and the most solidly built, reminiscent of the Industrial Subsectors now L4-O comes to think of it -- to be the only ones that appear complete. All of the buildings are -- or were -- joined by a roadway that also leads to what must have been a parking area at one time, judging by the collapsed heaps of metal contained therein that still vaguely resemble vehiclebots.

Other clones exits the bots, including Speed-G, but before he goes to explore, he takes a moment to examine their vehiclebots' doors. Why? Not to imitate some chubby RED, that's for sure. No, he's looking for locks; seemingly everyone else has overlooked this little detail. (OOC: rolling: 3) Each door appears to be equipped with a standard tongueprint lock, so it's easy enough to lock them.

I approach the ruined buildings first, to check them out since they will be a little faster to investigate... if they're even safe to investigate.

I frown being a GREEN having to lick doors, but I go around locking the doors.

Ruins, travelling to Point One, [REDACTED], right now

While Speed-G busies himself with locking the vehiclebot doors*, L4-O starts investigating the ruined buildings first, mostly to see if they'll be safe to explore thoroughly. (OOC: rolling: 7, 11, and 5) And from what he can see, most of the ruins should be safe to investigate further. One of the now-one-level buildings looks as it it could collapse at any moment, but it's the sort of unsafe that the Armed Forces might be ordered to handle. So really, the only question is: where should he investigate first? The doors of the one-level buildings stand open... almost inviting him inside...

Without thinking, Lucas-O immediately heads into one of them. It looks as if he's spotted something.

* Perhaps he should consider that tongueprint locks have been around for far longer than ME Cards, and that citizens of all clearances must still press their tongues to sensors all over Alpha Complex -- and beyond, if this sim is to be believed -- so really, there is no reason for his happiness level to fall below Mandatory Minimum Happiness Level. Nor does he really have to lick the sensor, technically speaking; as mentioned, simply pressing your tongue to the sensor is usually sufficient.

I follow Lucas-O to see what's up, assessing the situation in the building.

Lucas-O's building, Ruins, travelling to Point One, [REDACTED], right now

Following Lucas-O inside, L4-O takes stock of the situation. It appears to be the entryway to what at one time might have been an office building, and still has a desk where security might have been stationed (complete with a filing cabinet, locker and a computer (lower case!)), as well as what appear to be turnstiles for entry into the building proper. However, there's not much visible beyond there; perhaps only a couple of rooms remain now that the rest has collapsed.

It probably doesn't need to be said, but, though there are ancient-looking light fixtures, they are not functioning. In fact, though Lucas-O heads over and tries to operate the computer, it too doesn't seem to be functioning. Chances are that the place is not receiving power.

I go over to the security station and start searching through any drawers accessible in the desk and filing cabinet.

L4-O heads over to the desk and starts rifling through its drawers, and those of the filing cabinet as well.

(OOC: rolling: 1!)

He has no problem opening them; perhaps locking then was not really a thing that was done back when this building was in use. Or perhaps they were locked and the locks have simply failed. Or maybe they're supposed to be powered, and their lack of power has rendered the locks ineffective. All of this is pure speculation, though, and is getting in the way of watching L4-O look through everything, so let's get back to him, shall we?

Looking through the drawers, he finds examples of some sort of card. They're the4 same size as an ME Card but are completely black, except for the word ``Spare'' embossed into each.

In addition, L4-O finds some stained papers that look like they once were printouts, but their contents have long since faded. There's also a laminated piece that still retains some sort of an impressions that looks like it could be a map of the ruins as they once were. You know, before they became ruins...

I take one of the cards, wondering if it'll be useful somehow, and also take the map, since that'll definitely be useful! I check the map to see if it describes what the specific buildings of the ruins are.

L4-O takes a card and the map, and starts studying the map. It doesn't help that the place is so dark, but there seems to be some faint writing printed on the map next to each building... (OOC: rolling: 5) and it's even printed in what looks like Alpha Complex Standard! Or maybe it's in a different language and the sim is just making it so that he can read it... somehow.) From what he can see, the text identifies each building; this one's listed as ADMINISTRATION and the two large, intact buildings are REACTOR BUILDING and FACTORY BUILDING.

Speed-G has his weapon in evidence... and out of the corner of his eye, he could swear he saw a shadow move.
