| | | | Ok, I found the planet by the coordinates provided by Neuzd and... there was no tower there! Here, take a look:
Ok, here's the original we're after:

And here's the photo taken from my return to the exact same planet:

Note that the coordinates, atmosphere pressure and temperature (It slightly differs, but I guess that's because of the different time this picture was taken!) and even the compass display are the same in both pictures.
(I've named this system Notaur II, because this is the second S00 star I've visited, which had no tower on it's 8th planet! "No-Tower", get it? Alright, a bad pun! )
I haven't change a thing in Noctis during the period of time when these pictures were taken... O.K., how is this possible? Any other records of notable landmarks just disappearing? :/
I am so confused... | | | | |

| | | | The best scenario would be that you don't find it either. This would mean a) that there is nothing wrong with your Noctis copy and your PC b) that you incurred in an extrememly rare "feature" which I think can be related to a phenomenon known as "Suricrasian catnip".
These are just speculations, and there are explorers that are more knowledged than me about the topic. It would be an interesting discovery, let's see if Skinnymon has something to say.
This is what I found (the difference in lighting, temp and parsis are due to the movement of the planet). Also look as how the sky perfectly match with your shot (the stars in the sky are always seen from the perspective of the stardrifter and not from a surface's point of view).

[EDIT] Yes, we wrote basically the same message at the same time : P The "Extra-Suricrasian catnip" theory gains weight...

| | | | Could You please tell me something more about the "Suricrasian Catnip"? I'm interested in this subject! Who knows, maybe I've discovered something more than just a missing lump of rock in the middle of a desert! | | | | |

| | | | ![]() | Skinnymon said: | Suricrasian Catnip is a bug FEATURE in NIV, though it has become a kind of "insider joke" (a reference to "pseudo-psilocybic" drugs; non-existent of course, but cats are fond of catnip...and Felisians ARE cats!)
In NIV (not NICE) you could land on the world Suricrasia and find structures one time, but the next time you landed there...even if they were an enormously tall tower... there would be nothing there. i believe it had to do with overloading the DOS script. But it was fun. If you climbed to the top of the tall tower, and quit, the next time you logged in, you would find yourself at the top of NOTHING! Then you would fall to the surface... a Suricrasian Sleigh ride! (named after Nantucket sleigh ride). |

| | | | Wow, this theory somehow seems to be connected with this "Tower" case... But still, I'm using NIV+, not NIV...
Edit: I'm really interested in Skinnymon's opinion about this!

| | | | So, seemly NIV+ also features suricrasian catnip...
Also, suricrasian catnip is what make we post like I did my previous post...

| | | | The procedural generation routines of NIV and NIV+ are absolutely identical.
NIV+ just has additional gameplay features, like mouselook, the moviemaker, and stuff like this.
Every original feature is still at its place, intentionally unchanged. The only change that has a visual impact is that in NIV+ bushes are drawn farther than what NIV does.

| | | | So it means that I have captured my hallucinations on camera? Cool... Are there any documented cases like this one anywhere else? | | | | |

| | | | Hmmm...this might just be a thin-at FEATURE. Remember that album I linked you to previously neuzd? Terrain change! | | | | |

| | | | Mmmh, I skimmed through your PMs and had a quick look at your albums, but I didn't find anything about it, nor I seem to recall that we talked about this subject before. Of course me too I'm blaming the catnip now.... <_< >_> | | | | |

| | | | Is there a possibility in finding that tower again? I just can't stop thinking about it... | | | | |

Basically it was to highlight 2 rather similar things * Different terrain between Noctis IV Regular and (an older version of) IV Plus. *Changing terrain of thin-ats(noted in IV, can't remember about IV+)

I don't just mean cosmetically different, I mean actual landscape differences. 04:22, 4616599 whispers: if not, I have some more stuff that would make useful supplements to a new 'Catnip' album I plan to upload. 06:13, 4616599 meant: errr...NIV+ 10:02, Serpens> Whoah, surface differences between NIV+ and vanilla NIV? Let us see!
14:00, 4616599 whispers: neuzd, about that landscape discepancy...it could have been my error. But it also exposed another error. 14:00, Torisek> http://anynowhere.com/bb/cd/pngs/mNHhiPWe516fFLWeQOYimZd0SJ5eyy7iLINfPsh06 QIeDwli8o5eFhh0umJe90qg.png This is planet with Thin atmosphere... It's kinda different. 14:01, 4616599> Anyway, the album detailing the anomaly I had hinted about: http://picasaweb.google.com/RyanGJK/NoctisIVCatnipCuriouserAndCuriouserThe VariousFacesOfAThinAtPlanet?authkey=Gv1sRgCNbOu7bI8-DDcg&feat=directlink 14:01, 4616599> By the way, excellent find Torisek!
14:05, Neuzd> Are you sure of the versions those pictures come from 4.6M? 14:05, Torisek> The worst thing in Noctis is you can't see the moons or ring.s 14:09, 4616599> Very. 14:09, Neuzd> The official NIV+ package is the one hosted chez Megagun's. 14:10, 4616599 whispers: but ignore the NIV+ pics if you want since it was a beta. Weren't you misunderstanding clouds for surface features in the sector landing maps? 14:15, Neuzd> Or, I mean, that's the measure of how I can't get what you're talking about.... 14:17, Neuzd> About that version, it has the leftovers of the seed experimentations. Throw it away. please 14:18, Torisek> dang how to input parsis? i cant find it in manual 14:18, Serpens> So those bright areas are actually clouds? I remember seeing storm clouds moving on thick atmosphere planets, but not thin ones! |

| | | | I can't see your album anymore. I tried fixing the link but it doesn't seem to be there. (Also browsing in your albums, I can't see it).
By the way I was suggesting, during that discussion, that you misinterpreted atmospheric activity for surface features.
I don't know...it's better to start again after having watched the pics.
