 | |  | | ![]() I completely ignore the surrounding conversation and focus on making sure all my cybernetic connections are functioning correctly. I frown as I receive an alert.
"The lift support subsystem indicates that Pod 7 has suffered a critical error. Records indicate that Captain Newton Polish Carnegie was scheduled to occupy that pod for the duration of the flight. Brainwave patterns recorded in Pod 7 are consistent with Captain Carnegie's. The occupant currently has no pulse, and all brain function has ceased. A request for a medbot has been issued. Automated scanning routines have failed. Estimation of survival chance requires a visual scan of the subject..."
I look at the contents of Pod 7. I back away in shock and revulsion, showing perhaps the most emotion you'll ever see from me. I quickly compose myself.
"V-Visual scan returns a 99.9943% chance that the subject will not survive. The medbot request has been canceled. Additionally, there is a 99.99999% chance that Pod 7 has been sabotaged by a crewmember. Background checks on the remaining 8 crewmembers indicate that the person most likely to be the saboteur is..."
I pause.
"Error! The crewmember data files can not be found! Server branch K4 is currently offline! Recalibrating analysis..."
I pause again, for several seconds.
"Analysis complete! Based on his close relation to the Captain, and the fact that he is second in command and the captain's successor, the person most likely to be the saboteur is currently Captain Lightning4, at 27.43%!"

 | | | | ![]() Lt. Starchaser begins "Judging from the man slushy that used to be the captain..."
He pauses for a second, bends down and produces a pen which he then goes on to prod the remains, he continues,
"it was most likely a complete cellular breakdown caused by ice crystals forming inside the body. Someone probably managed to stop the delivery of anti-freeze on the cryopod..."
Ceasing the inspection of the man slushy the Lieutenant wanders over to the window, wipes the pen clean of juices on the nearby Corporal Neuzd and poke him gently in the shoulder with it.
"He is the most likely to know how to do this, being an engineer..."
Pausing yet again, the Lt turns to face the rest of the room and with a quick geasture and loud explosion of voice positions his improvised pointing device at eye level with the Civvy Jam.
"HOWEVER! Why would the Corporal sabotage a mission that could go so much better on his record and would be more likely to get him promotion than the death of his superior?"
As if to be questioning Jam.
He storms over and get's right in his face and says
"This, is our saboteur gentlemen. The only other capable of disabling the delivery systems on the captains and only the captains pod."
Stepping back two steps and turning about, to say, finally, quietly.
"And with that, gentlemen...

Lt. Starchaser then slumps in a nearby chair with a blank look. Deep in thought.

Why? Because he's clearly trying to hide something. He comes in with this extravagant way of pointing the finger at Lightning4 and trying to make it look random. He wants us to think his "computer" skills are pointing out the killer, hiding behind math and percentages and big words, so that way he has one less person to kill when the night shift kicks in. | | | | |

I look back at Jam.
"And we would like to see the remaining data from this so-called analysis. I don't mean to be rude, but we must examine everything!"

While the XO and the CO's ranks may both be Captain, the CO is more powerful than the XO because they are in command.
The Executive Officer is the second in command. When the CO or Commanding Officer is incapacitated the XO is put in Command.
If the CO dies then the XO basically becomes the CO and therefore Captain/Commander of the ship.
Being Captain/Commander of a ship doesn't necessarily reflect ones actual military rank. However, as I said before, Commander may be a better term for me to use." | | | | |

Despite someone accusing me, I will not reciprocate yet. I hope this doesn't end in my demise...

"You have a good point, Lieutenant Starchaser. Data indicates that there is a 15.43% chance that Corporal Neuzd is the saboteur, and a 14.62% chance that I am. But detailed knowledge of the cyropod is not necessary to disable the anti-freeze systems. All someone would have to do is disconnect the line connecting the Pod to the main anti-freeze tank.
I point to the pipe nearby, which seems to have had a section of it torn apart by an explosion.
"There is a 93.32% chance that this is directly related to the Captain's death. I believe that even the most uneducated of people could figure out how to use a delayed miniature explosive device, or some equivalent."
"But I agree with Captain Lightning4, there isn't enough evidence..."

OOC: I don't know how to play these games, I thought it would have been no fun at all if the roleplaying aspect was totally absent, but I got worried by RJ saying that this is starting to feel like a Paranoia game, with long posts and some already developed characters.
As one of the first posters, I didn't know the level of roleplaying these games are used to be, so I just gave my character a stereotypical personality and decided to guts-motivate the first random vote. | | | | |

"However as you can see there are clearly no scorch marks on this pipe. And this rupture is rather close to this electronic valve."
He then saunters over to the window once more.
Without turning his head, he says loudly for the whole room to hear.
"And perhaps we should stop throwing bogus statistics around and look more closely at the motive of the killer?"
OOC: I was just trying to get some basic character development down. I probably won't put much more into it since we don't know how long we will live for.
Also, Speeder, I'm assuming 11pm ABB time is when night starts, correct?
EDIT: Additional OOC: Also, do "no votes" not count towards the majority lynch? Or is it if there is a majority of null voters, there will be no lynch. | |  | |  |
