Well, I'ven't seen much actions here, or it's just me?

And when the hell will NV be?

I suppose it somewhat reflected my own liveliness, which has been pretty low.

As of NV, I begin to think of it as an old idea, and sincerely, I'm thinking of starting something that will *encompass* NV, among other things. I don't feel anymore like when I wrote NIV many years ago: it does no longer look fascinating to have only that.

Could it be because we just lost a weeks worth of posts?

Come on! Alex just returned and you're already asking for NV? Arg! The NV curse will probably go into overdrive and push the release date back a couple of decades or something!

NV is old. I won't write a program that will be only NV, but will include it as a sort of game in the game. My idea is having some sort of catch-all project that will work as a number of different things, including perhaps a client for this site. But I have no precise idea of what it will be, neither I wish I had a precise idea. It will be something weird, surprising, and hopefully even fun.

Sometimes I wonder if Cryo hands Alex whatever he smokes

When I think Cryo ideas are crazy, Alex come up with even more crazy ideas... (but he made dust and crystal pixels, so...)

It's my own true style, can't help.

The true me never used to take orders or make long-term plans, he used to only produce something out of the blue, riding wild inspirations.

Hi Alex!

Anyway, as a quick reply, there was actually a good amount of activity over the past week- which got wiped out. The posts, at least. but hey, it's summoned Alex's return!

"Alex just returned and you're already asking for NV? Arg! The NV curse will probably go into overdrive and push the release date back a couple of decades or something!"

Is the curse's effect increased incrementally according to Alex's (emotional, non-geographical) proximity to the boards then? Is there a formula for this?

Something like C=(N+I+P)*L, perhaps.

C is Curse in years
N is base level of extra 'curseness' in years
I is how much the offending post Irritates regular forumites
P is Proximity in mind-miles
L is Likelihood of the post being lost in a server failure in the near future, as a fraction of one.

Well, it was something to write ...

Alex might claim he hasn't been working on Noctis, but that's just to keep others from asking about getting in on the super-secret beta. Someone asked for screenshots in the curse thread yesterday, and I was going to satisfy them by posting a few last night, but the site went down and took their post with it. : P Anyway, here's some screens I snapped, showing off some impressive vistas on a felysian world...

This first shot shows the HDR lighting and depth of field effects. I think they need to be seen in motion to really be appreciated though.
cd/jpgs/Cryoburner/nv_hdr_dof (70 Kb)

This next shot shows off the equally impressive motion blur effect. Once again, I can assure you that it looks even more impressive in motion.
cd/jpgs/Cryoburner/nv_motion_blur (45 Kb)

The last shot is taken in a nearby cave. It's a little dark, since Alex didn't add a personal light source yet, but the detailed cave formations shouldn't lose any of their grandeur either way.
cd/jpgs/Cryoburner/nv_cave (25 Kb)

How much Genius are you made of, Cryo?

My favorite shot is the cave one.

Well, we just need to pray that NV won't be second Crysis (unable to play on PCs even today!)

3D yes, but hell, optimalize not to pass power of handy laptop.
Anyway, did anyone thought to port Noctis into small handy thing, which name I've forgot, but it's one big pocket emulator? I've heard there's special Linux version for that emu-console.

GP2X and Dingoo?

GP2X runs Linux natively.

Dingoo is a china-clone of GP2X, that people made a homebrew Linux for it.
