It has been four months since the break of 2011. During then most of us were experiencing winter and its cold, wet wrath.

Now Summer is almost upon us and I'm curious what everyone has planned for Summer.

A flight to an exotic location?
A road trip cross country?
Or maybe a vacation in your own living room?

What does Any-nowhere have planned this summer?

Anynowhere is not solely based in the northern hemisphere. Can people (everyone, not just here) please stop calling these months "summer" and assume everyone is the same, unless they have good reason to.

Maybe I'm being picky, but this constantly annoys me.

I totally agree with Albeymakiir

I agree for the sake of policy, even though it's summer-y here (ie I'm in the northern hemisphere.) Stop. NOW.

But the majority of us (the majority of the worlds population even), lives in the northern hemisphere, and since it IS summer in these months, it's perfectly fine to call it summer. :3=

There's only somewhere around 10 people living in the southern hemisphere, and three of you are active. Remembering that the three of you are in upsidedown land can't be expected of everyone :3=

Anyway, by that line of thought where everyone can't call it summer and assume, L4 should demand that no one ever mentions daylight savings time, because his state doesn't use it :3=

That being said, I'm not doing anything this summer, just like every other summer. I consider people who do things for summer to be strange.

EDIT:

Also, I would like to mention that a shit load of places in the southern hemisphere have no idea what snow even looks like, so it may not BE summer, but you've got nothern hempisphere summer weather :3=

I know what snow looks like. I saw it on tv once...

But it is confusing anyway.

I hate when some companies pull something like: "Game will be released at fall"

Although there are worse things done by US citizens (besides their silly measurement system), like using US-only timezones to describe things (like: I will join your game server at 8:30 PST), and when I ask them the timezone in GMT some call me dumb (like: YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT PST IS? YOU DUM!)

Ok ok... stop ranting...

Anyway, here is winter, a very cold one for a place that does not snow... and during that winter, I plan to play lots of Terraria and The Witcher 2 when I buy my videocard needed to run it

The only thing wrong with 8:30 PST is that it doesn't describe AM versus PM, which the residents of the PST timezone usually use. There aren't a lot of people who use GMT0 (at the moment at least), whereas there are a lot more people who use PST (or rather, PDT).

Hell, saying something like 01:30 UTC for some event at 18:30 PST would be insanely stupid; as a lot of people who wouldn't be able to attend anyways (read: most Europeans) wouldn't be awake at the time anyways.

What I find to be worst is that a lot of people in the UK seem to not realize that the UK isn't always at GMT0.

Actually, scratch that; what I find to be worst is that most people can't be arsed to look up a time foreign to them using some online tool from timeanddate.com.. Really; asking the time in $YOUR_NATIVE_TIMEZONEand receiving a reply takes much more time than simply looking it up yourself, and at least you'll know that looking it up yourself gives you the right answer.

I'm sorry for the assumption I made, I'll make sure to keep this in mind for future posts. I did not mean to offend anyone.

Sorry, I didn't expect anyone to even pay attention to my little rant.

But now the thread has acquired a life of it's own. You must let it free, no matter how much you want to take it home and take care of it. It's better this way.

@Speeder: Actually, EST is harder than PST, because there's more than one EST in the world. PST (I think) only has one, so that's fair enough.

Well the problem with EST is other people deciding to use it. :3=

It isn't our fault other people had to copy the US and call their timezone EST as well. Crazy Deathlanders. If they didn't live in that hellhole of a continent, none of us would be having this conversation and the world would be a better place. I want to travel back in time about 300 years or so and be like "Look, this really isn't a good place to live. Turn around and go home, forget you ever saw this place."

And that would make the whole world a better place, Thylacine wouldn't be extinct and no one would die from the horrible horrible animals that live there. It's a win win.

That was kinda the point. It's not our fault we survived. Oh wait, yes it is. We're just that awesome.

^Disclaimer: Not actually descended from convicts. But two previous generations living in Australia should be enough to qualify me as awesome, I reckon. : P

UTC/GMT is the best to be honest. If I give someone a time I say 8:30 UTC+8. (I always use 24 hour clock) That way they can lrn2math and just subtract 8 from it and add their own time zone.

On another note, Australia would never not be inhabited, for example the aboriginal population would still be here.
Plus the extremely futile lands in some regions and the resource veins like the Goldfields and the mines up north.

Plus, we have banana plantations, bananas are good.

What does an australian moustache look like? Is it a tasmanian devil glued to a platapus covered with sydney funnel web spiders?
