| | | | Thanks Ginrai...I feel foolish not thinking of that myself. The greyed out items that don't function are: Data drop down menue items"include planets" and "include comments" Display Drop Down items "Show labels" "Show parsis" "Show uncommented bodies" "show Felysian planets"(I can show them however by checking off S00 in the panel on the right of the screen " "antialiasing" "distance dim" "show galaxy boundaries" "Show arrow from current to collected" (This item has a check mark and works but it is greyed in, and the check can not be turned off. The same is true for "automatic center on selected body") "Look and feel " are not greyed out but the drop down items from it are and in that drop down "windows" is marked and can not be unmarked. I sure hope someone can tell me how to fix this. It looks like a cool program and I would love to have it fully functional. | | | | |

 | | | | I'm not sure what you mean by "disabling" 1.5.0, but the easy solution would be to make a batch file which runs it explicitly with 1.4.2.
e.g. a file named runNM.bat, containing:
| | | | | | | And double-click runNM.bat to run NM. See if that makes stuff work. You may need to change 'j2re1.4.2_04' depending on the revision of 1.4.2 that you have (Just look in c:\program files\java). | | | | |

| | | | It seems like your copy of NM is allowing you access to all menu items other than those involving checkboxes and radio buttons.
I can't know for sure, but I'd strongly suggest that your current install of Java is the culprit. My copy works perfectly with version 1.4.2.
My suggestion would be to follow Shadowlord's advice in the first instance. It may be that you did not properly "disable" version 1.50 in your previous attempt.

| | | | Thanks everyone. Mapper working fine. Got rid of 1.5.0 (just renamed it so it couldn't be accessed) and when prompted typed in the proper info for 1.4.0. I still have greyed out items but they all work fine. Thanks again. | | | | |

 | | | | IMHO 1.5.0 rocks, and NM is the only program I've had any problems with so far. But then I don't use a great deal of java programs. I do particularly like some of the new features in 1.5.0 though (as a programmer, anyways, they're useful). | | | | |

| | | | Java 1.4.2 is by far the most used version, so I admit I didn't spend too much time making NM ok with 1.5.0 (even though I am a Java developer, I don't even have 1.5.0 installed at home).
Anyway, as I didn't sense a big usage of NM, I kinda dropped its support ... maybe I should come back to it, after all

| | | | I unpinned this because its all I could think of to unpin, the stickied stuff is getting a bit cluttered here.
If anyone starts making all new Noctis Mapper help threads I will resticky it

| | | | Hi, I'm a new Noctis IV user, and am trying to run the Noctis Mapper. I've made a shortcut that reads like this:
"C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_05\javaws\javaws.exe" -jar "D:\Games\oldskool\Noctis\Mapper\NoctisMapper.jar"
(those are the folders where my Java and NoctisMapper are)
When I try to run Noctis Mapper, I get a Java Web Start dialogue with this error:
An error occurred while launching/running the application.
Category: Invalid Argument error
Too many arguments supplied: {-jar, c:\windows\TEMP\javaws7 }
Any idea what the problem is here?
|
| | | | Try not running it through the shortcut is about all I can say. Someone else might know more than me, but that should work. Also have you edited the Noctis Mapper Configuration settings thing to make note of where you have Noctis installed at?
Change basedir=c:/noctis/data to basedir=d:/games/oldskool/Noctis/data

 | | | | The problem is that you're running jawaws.exe instead of javaw.exe. | | | | |

[edit - figured out I had a problem because my shortcut wasn't set to start in the NoctisMapper directory]
Thanks for the help, I got it running now. I'll let you know what I think after I've played with it a bit!
|
| | | | I've done a couple of tests, make sure the .ini file is "NoctisMapper.ini" do you get any other errors? (like "Error reading ini file") Edit: erm..., too late on my reply, but I'll leave this here for future reference. | | | | |

A. Either you don't, or you use someone elses Starmap2 made with EvolveSM. But for the most part, your stars don't get added to Noctis Mapper. | The above is from the FAQ of course.... Assuming I have plenty of idle processor time (which I do), what is the recommended parameter set for updating Starmap2?

| | | | You know what... I don't know. Someone else should. Quick, someone answer that question | | | | |
