| | | | I'm supposed to be reading Frankenstein for school, but instead I'm reading God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater by Kurt Vonnegut. After that, probably Do Androids Dream of Electronic Sheep? by Philip K. Dick and Player Piano by Vonnegut.
All tangentially related to what I'm supposed to be reading. Procrastination is an artform.

| | | | I get to read A Clockwork Orange for school.
I can't wait until I'm finished with boring-as-sin Pride and Prejudice.
Nerd: D.A.D.O.E.S is excellent.

| | | | Holy hell! the great gadsby! I didnt hate it until my teachers made me! They where turning EVERTHING into symbolism. Which even if it was, I dont care! The car was yellow, not becasue of love, but because of the damn paint on it! And the Grapes of Wrath is another good book. Actually, I like all of stienbecks works, even though i dont know how to spell his name. | | | | |

| | | | I'm of the opinion that if an author blatantly threw in symbolism and theme, they've lost the point of writing.
That's the problem with the way they teach this stuff...telling people what to think and see in a book isn't going to make people able to pick up on subtle things between the lines. It's far more likely to alienate them from reading forever.
Frankly, I'd rather they introduced those things AFTER reading the book -- see what the students get out of it on their own first. Discussion, not concussion!

| | | | That's one of the reasons why I try to read all my books twice. You notice stuff between the lines much better on the second read. On the first read you can concentrate on the plot and on the second read you pick out the fine nyances. | | | | |

| | | | Today I received 'Harry Potter, The Half Blood Prince'.
And I am now so thrilled with excitement that I find it hard to start to read. It would be so awesome!!

| | | | I've worked at Borders Books now for a little over 4 years. We've done 2 HP Birthday events and 2 book releases, and at 12:01 the other night we sold the book to nearly 2500 people. Still, I've managed to not read a single one. Are they any good? j/k | | | | |

| | | | Books I read while away:
Lots of Manga Meg Meg: Primal Waters The Forge of God Darwins Children Downward to the Earth Hyperion Congo Red, Green and Blue Mars Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince Wolf's Head, Wolf's Heart Through Wolf's Eyes The Dragon of Dispair (last three part of a series)
Whatever else I read I seem to have forgotten

| | | | That's quite a few books RJ I've got the latest Harry Potter book on the floor by my bed but I can't even begin to start it while my mind is totally occupated by the Heaven and Earth Trilogy! (which is way better in my opinion). | | | | |
|
| | | | It seems small but its actually a lot more since those lots of manga adds 13 or so more titles to the list | | | | |

| | | | The first two of the new colored Bone TPBs are out, and they're pretty well done. And only $10.
Some of you might remember Bone from its brief run in Disney Adventures, if you read that around the mid-90s. It's about three cousins who, after being run out of town, stumble their way across the desert into a hidden valley. Stuck there for the winter, Fone Bone meets a young girl named Thorn. After a run-in with a couple rat creatures, he realizes that something evil is brewing in the valley. I've heard it described as Lord of the Rings meets Pogo, and I'd say that it's a pretty apt description.
