Okay, so there are a nunch of great bands out there that noone's ever heard of except a few loyal fans. This thread is dedicated to bringing those bands that we love to other people to let them share the love.

Toy Dolls
Crazy and silly old-school punk band. They've played since 1978 and are still going strong. They are rippers on guitar and drums, and their lyrics are sometimes hilarious. Check out their instrumental classical pieces. Especially Eine Kleine Nachtmusik.

Alice Donut
funny and crazy rock band, released on Jello Biafra's label, Alternative Tentacles. They recently reunited in the name of getting more money out of the public. You can download almost all the songs they've released at their site!

Oingo Boingo
Danny Elfman is not only one of the best classical composers in the film industry, he's also a band leader. This is really weird music from the late seventies, early eighties. Absolutely worth checking out, though they may be an aquired taste to many. (insanity and nasty habits are recommended)

Squirrel Nut Zippers
A modern-day classic swing-jazz band, SNZ really twist my feet. They've got great vocals and just generally catchy, jazzy tunes. Many people haven't heard of them even though most people HAVE heard at least one of their songs. They've provided a few films with the song "Hell" (or maybe "In the Afterlife". not sure) including Beetleguice and Dead Man On Campus.

The Gone Jackals
The Gone Jackals are one of my favorite bands, and have been since I first heard them play the soundtrack to the Lucasarts classic Full Throttle. I bought their CD just from playing that game. I've been listening to it pretty much ever since, but recently picked up their more recent work, and it's even better. These guys never cease to amaze me. Great songs, poignant lyrics, monkey stew.

SNZ's still around? Haven't heard of them in aeons....and if I remember, they're less than an hour down the highway (less than 3 in RJ's case).

Well I would have to say one of my favorite obscure bands is The Flys, ever watched Disturbing Behavior? Well they were the ones who did the song "Got you where I want you" Really good song...

I checked out the Full Throttle song of The Gone Jackals, since that was the only thing I got on Kazaa, and it sounded nice. Not bad.

The Flys? Not Flies? I'll check up on them as well.

Yeah, SNZ's still around. I bought Perennial Favorites a few years ago. Never bought a second album, but I listen a lot to that one. I need to get more of them.

Got You Where I Want You is definatly my favorite... *wonders if Gorillaz would be a obscure band too*

Gorillaz were on the Mtv and in the top ten lists all over the world. I would hardly call them obscure.

Fiddler's Green - Irish independent speedfolk
They are amazing. Not only do they play Irish and Scottish folk songs with rock instruments, they also have great own tunes which sound very authentic.

Oh, and I made you say what your favourite song by the Flys was three times. The third time, I tricked you into it, but still. I find that pretty funny.

Oooh! Speedfolk! I love rockfolk/speedfolk etc! Woohoo!
